Alright, I'm taking the lines from my current WIP, Common Descent, the next book in the Darwin's Children series. Enjoy!
Matt’s words surrendered to virulent emotions as John’s
quiet, suburban home erupted in violence. So fast, he somehow missed it, Jaycie
crushed in the side of his face with a devastating left hook. Matt flew
sideways, into the kitchen counter, only to be assaulted by a trained upper cut
that sent him into the refrigerator at his left.
“How could
you?” Jaycie roared before she knocked him to the floor with a text book round
house. Matt gripped the left side of his rapidly swelling face and looked up at
her, breathing heavily. He’d almost forgotten Jaycie had studied Jeet Kune Do
with Allison since she was ten.
